Features to know about

Stable Support for Heavy Bikes: 60-lb Capacity Per Bike

Big bikes ride easy on the Transfer V2. Each tray supports up to 60 lbs per bike and is rated for use on a vehicle, camper, RV, 5th wheel, or trailer. It handles 18"–29" wheels and tires up to 3.0" wide, so e-bikes and mountain rigs sit securely without frame strain. A steel construction and black powder coat finish keep it strong and rust-resistant through all kinds of travel.

Kuat Transfer V2 bike rack approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, fifth wheels, motorhomes, towable campers, and flat-towed vehicles

No-Frame Contact for Carbon and Custom Rides

The ratcheting hooks secure each bike by the front wheel so nothing touches the frame or paint. That makes it ideal for carbon fiber bikes and any custom finish you want to keep clean. Rear-wheel cradles pivot to match different wheelbases up to 50", and ratcheting straps lock them down tight without extra tools or adjustment.

Hands-Free Access to Your Gear

Loading and unloading is simple thanks to the spring-loaded foot pedal. It lets you tilt the rack down with bikes loaded for cargo access or fold it up for storage, all while keeping both hands free to steady the rack. The U-shaped frame gives you space to stand inside the rack for easy lifting and keeps the view clear when folded.

Quiet, Solid Ride with Built-In Security

The tamper-resistant flatlock cam tightens the shank inside the 2" hitch to cut out wobble. You use the included 8-mm security wrench to tighten and remove it, keeping the rack locked to the receiver. An integrated ¼"-thick braided steel cable secures the bikes to the rack, so everything stays locked together when you step away.

Lightweight and Ready to Grow

At just 37 lbs, the Transfer V2 is easy to move and install solo. Need room for another ride? A 1-bike add-on (sold separately) turns it into a 3-bike rack without starting from scratch. It’s a simple, sturdy setup built for every trip from city streets to open highway.

This heavy-duty, 2-bike rack is perfect for the serious cyclist and occasional riders. It's safe for carbon frames and has a foot pedal that lets you use both hands to tilt for trunk access and fold for storage.

by:

The product is great! A bit heavy but i like it
Also i think this is a good investment. It will serve my family for many years.

by:

This Kuat rack will work great for me. I previously has the same rack but with the 1 and 1/4" hitch. That worked fine for our 2 bikes, but I upgraded to a heavier bike and needed the actual 2" hitch.

Things I like better about this newer rack: 1. While cable locks aren't the most secure devices, they are better than nothing and this rack includes an integrated one. 2. It seems the hooks that go over the tire have a softer feel that will hopefully not make the bike front fork over time. 3. Assembly was easy. You'll never find anything requiring assembly that has clearer instructions! Also, it's great that Kuat includes all the necessary tools to complete the installation; no digging through my various tool boxes for the correct tools. In addition, the packing of the rack by Kuat was fantastic with everything protected and secure.

Things that time will tell: 1. The finish on this is a flat power coat; my previous was grey with a sealed, smooth surface that was easy to clean. I'm not sure in the long run how easily this finish will be to clean. 2. The hole in the arm for the lock is open when the cable lock is not installed. This could certainly allow for water and dirt to enter the interior of the arm. Some sort of cover or plug for this hole would be a nice improvement.

And, of course, the information on etrailer was great. Ordering was simple, delivery as expected. Another great job by etrailer.

by:

Extremely fast shipping! I've only had it for a few weeks but so far everything is as advertised! I'm extremely satisfied with my experience as a whole with etrailer and would not hesitate to order from again.

This review is after a year. Overall this is a good bike rack.
Pros:
-price is fair
-Ease of use
-Bikes remain secure in transit.

Cons.
-Some parts are made of plastic that would be better as aluminum.
-The locking cord is annoying. One time in transit, it got wrapped around the derailleur. On moving the bikes down to open the hatch, the derailleur was damaged when the cord pulled on it, so I needed a new one. I’m not sure why Kuat would not choose to put the lock on the hook that secures the bicycle tire. That would eliminate the need for an annoying cable.
-It would be nice to have a torque wrench included so you are confident you are not over tightening the hex bolt that attaches the rack to the car. You are warned not to over-tighten, so you are left wondering.
-When the rack is pivoted down, Honda CRV 2020 hatchback cannot clear the handlebars on my mountain bike. It is possible to access storage, but the trunk cannot fully open.

Overalll, the low cost and overall quality and ease of use make this a good choice. Some minor tweaks to the design would make this a stellar product. Be carful how you use the cord.

by:

This bike rack has been strong, sturdy, and stable on the back of our 35ft fifth wheel. We navigate some pretty rough roads in our full time travel and we have not had any problems with the bike rack. It is easy to transfer from the RV hitch to the truck hitch too.

by:

Perfect replacement for the factory hit ch.

by:

Assembly was easy and the rack seems very solid.

by:

I've just installed my Kuat Transfer V2 and the fact I can easily access the back of my Dodge Caravan with the goal post design, which I think very clever is awesome. The cam lever when tightened with the special allen wrench makes for a very solid fit into the receiver hitch of my van. It looks and feels solid and is easy to use.

I love it! Its easy to use and built very solid.

by:

I wish it came with a written set if assembly instructions to a very easy way to fine the assembly instructions using the website. Other that that the product is easy to assemble and seems to be well built. I have not yet used the bike rack so I have no use review yet.

by:

This bike rack is great. Two things: it folds up to a pretty slim profile and it’s well made. That said I had trouble getting the first front wheel holder to go on. The inside and outside holes in the frame were not aligned so you couldn’t get the bolt to pass through so I ended up enlarging the outside hole enough to allow the bolt to go through straight and the rest was painless! Another nice point are the tools: they’re actually good enough to keep! This is my second Kuat bike rack and they really handle bikes well. The tilt works great, too. Overall, it’s great pick!

Rock steady! I go and check to be sure fasteners are still tight and I lube the moving parts with a light machine oil. All is well! Oh, the first rack is still going strong even without TLC.

by:

Love this bike rack. Easy to use and very secure.

by:

Product seems good, just hope it’s for a fifth wheel trailer like Royce told my husband last week when they were chatting online about getting a bike rack for our fifth wheel trailer.

by:

Assembly was a little bit of effort and needed some space to get it done. It’s also a bit heavier than I expected. But the features are fantastic and it feels like a bike rack that’s going to last. Very well designed.

I still really enjoy the rack, but the recall and added part make it a little less convenient to use. Better that than my bikes falling off, though. Overall, Id my review down to 3 stars and recommend looking at the NV models instead.

by:

Great rack perfect for my e-mountain bike no issues. The rack company sent me a upgrade to the rack for a recall issue but love the folding option. Be careful if you have a automatic closing sensor under the bumper your hatch could be engaged when installing the security cable opening the hatch unexpectedly expectantly...ugh

by:

I just built and installed my rack yesterday and I absolutely love it. I drove with it on today (no bikes), amazed that there was no rattle. Tomorrow I do plan to carry a bike to see how that feels. The quality of the product exceeded my expectations! Great value for the price and if this is Kuats Entry Level model, it is worth every penny!

by:

Etrailer made ordering easy. My bike rack came in within a few days of ordering and assembly was a breeze. Kuat packages things up very nicely and includes good quality hardware and tools for assembly.

by:

Great bike rack...have a Kuat for the RV and another for our car...both work well...

by:

Nice my son said he had this and told me it a good rack. But it only had one rubber like strap for the rear tire hold down should have TWO. Worked ok on my 2025 Hyundia Santa Fe, but had to add an extension to my receiver for bike handle bar to miss my rear window.

by:

Exactly what I needed.

Product is awesome. Had to add a hitch extension to clear the spare tire of my Bronco, but no problems. I did add some reflective tape for better visibility in the early mornings.

by:

I chose this bike rack because I trust the brand based on having a Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack for the last two years but needed a bike rack that is approved to have on our 5th wheel RV. Well, talk about night and day construction between these two Kuat models. The Sherpa is all aluminum construction, paint finish better than some cars I've owned and smooth to operate. The Transfer model is plastic at all of the critical wear points (guaranteed failure at some point), screws that allow the arms to move can't be tightened down if you want the arms to move (and yes, they require checking before each rv travel day and they do come loose!) and just a general clunky setup. But, and here is the difference, the Transfer can go behind my 5th wheel while the Sherpa can't. Darn it.

Now for the bad part of the review. If I were rating this based solely on the etrailer.com experience I would have given this at most 1 star for shipping. Silly me having gone through this each time I order something from them but when the website (for this bike rack order) said one day delivery I actually believed it might happen considering the warehouse was only 50 miles away but no, it took 5 days to receive the bike rack. Yes I contacted customer service and they replied the same day (a Sunday!) that they were sorry and would send a UPS return sticker if I wanted. No, I want the darn bike rack but was leaving town and need it now! Long story short it did arrive in time to use it on our trip. So bottom line, don't believe etrailer's website for delivery information and allow lots of extra delivery time, or shop somewhere else.

by:

We love this bike rack. We bought a couple ebikes and needed something we could use behind our travel trailer when camping and the truck when we just want to drive to some trails. When we were looki g, many can't be used behind travel trailers. We absolutely love the way its built - its sturdy, high quality, pretty easy to put together - good instructions. Love the tilting feature - use one foot - very easy. Love that it comes with the cable lock for the bikes, It is very adjustable for a wide range of bikes. We have step throughs. We did buy a hitch lock for extra security. We would recommend this rack to anyone.

by:

Rack seems well made but rear wheel holder is a little small. Built in anti rattle is great. Lack of printed assembly instructions was a pain for an old guy. Trying to read a PDF on a phone is not ideal.

by:

This rack is the BOMB!! Holds your bikes very very well. No shaking or bouncing. You get what you pay for! Kuat makes quality racks. Had a Thule before. This one is 10 times better. Very easy to put in and take out of your hitch each time you use it. Easy to tilt and get into your vehicle. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a good bike rack that will last a long time and give you peace of mind while driving to your ride destination. Use it along with a high quality class lII hitch. (2" receiver).

by:

Description matches product. Solid product, the online instructions were easy to follow to assemble rack. Needed a quality rack to mount on back of my 5th wheel, this is it.

by:

great rack, easy to assemble. honest shipping eta.

  • Option For Carrying 2 E-Bikes Using The Curt RV Bumper Hitch E-100
Hello Ron. You are correct that the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU84FR is not recommended to be used on a hitch attached to a bumper. Even with the safety struts added, we still cannot recommend doing this. Using a bumper mounted hitch is definitely going to limit your options for a bike rack. Our best option for this is the Kuat Piston Pro Bike Rack # KU76ZR. This rack is rated for use on the back of a camper, and unlike the Transfer V2, the Piston Pro can be used with a bumper mounted hitch. This...

  • Why Won't Inno Tire Hold Bike Rack Work On Motorhome
Hi Larry; the Inno Tire Hold Bike Rack # INH120 won't work on your Forest River Forester MBS because Inno didn't design or rate it that way. There are additional forces applied to bike racks on the back of a Class A and Class C motorhome so it is important to have this rating. Could you put it on the back? Sure, but I don't think you would be happy if it failed and you lost your bikes and rack. Are you looking for a bike rack with that specific wheel mount style? If so, you can use the...

Hi Dick; the Benton LittleShift Bike Rack # B54VR cannot be used on an RV, trailer, or towed vehicle. Are you carrying a regular bike or an e-bike? If it is a heavier e-bike the Lets Go Aero V-Lectric VFR # LGA25VR would be a better choice with an RV capacity of 80 lbs per bike. So you need a hitch bike rack that has at least 10 inches from it's hitch pin hole to the nearest bike tray. The Kuat NV Base part # BA22B would work for this as it has this distance at 11-3/4 inches. The Kuat Transfer V2 part # KU84FR does not have quite the clearance needed as-is but I wouldn't...

Hey Peter. Happy to help out. That sounds annoying, but I do have a good fix for that squeaking on the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU84FR.
